3/29/25 8 years ago, we took in a group of research beagles. As many of you have seen before and with our rescue as well, often these dogs are afraid of the world. They have never been outside or in a home. They never have had an opportunity to be an actual dog and know what that means. They were bred in a facility and used their entire lives to be poked, prodded, injection, inhaled. The trauma that these dogs have gone through is extremely hard to recover from. Among this particular group was Valentine!!
Valentine was 7 years of age. She actually ended up being my foster with Adore. Valentine had no idea how to be a dog. She was terrified of people and circled away from them. She did learn though, to accept love, to chew things up and play and get treats. I used to sing to her “my funny valentine.” She had to overcome a lot, both physically and emotionally. After 4 months in foster care, she found a family. She and Bubbles went together and joined an older canine sibling. They went and lived in Reno. Valentine ended up being a big sister her to new baby brother. The best thing ever was her human family loved her, with all of her faults, and gave her a family. Unfortunately Valentine just crossed over the rainbow bridge. We are truly sorry for their loss. She held a special place in my heart as many other hundreds do. My little foster with a big personality. Rest in Peace my Funny Valentine. ![]()
