Spring 2025 – 6 year old Jane was failed by people over and over again. Her family never socialized her and then gave her up when a
baby came along. She had lots of struggles adjusting to people and dogs and being without her family. Jane was adopted to someone looking for a dog that has been overlooked. This person was in constant contact the first week and all seemed to be going well. Imagine our surprise when a couple weeks later we are notified by a shelter that Jane is there. We will always take our dogs back and have even ten years down the road. We make this very clear to adopters and yet instead of returning Jane, he did not want to paint himself in a bad light so he drove her 30 minutes into the desert and dumped a small beagle that already had severe separation anxiety. It took animal control 3 days to trap her and another 3 days to get close enough to scan her chip. Her collar and tags were removed. She was intentionally dumped in the desert to die. Jane had separation anxiety already but now it is off the charts.
We went to Arizona and picked her up and she is in foster care. However, Jane will take a lot of rehabilitation now. She is now on medication that we are hopeful will help and she is seeing a trainer to work through her anxiety and socialization. Poor Jane is such a sweet girl and failed so many times.
